The Israel Democracy Institute has laid the necessary groundwork to fulfill its mission: “to promote a knowledge-based public discourse in Israel on national agenda issues, initiate structural, political, and economic reforms, and serve as an advisory body for decision-makers and the general public.” This is achieved through research conducted in roundtable discussions and productive dialogue, with all meetings filmed and broadcast live across platforms and social networks. Simultaneously, they are recorded and stored in a VOD archive.
Another challenge lies in maintaining the seating arrangement so that all forum participants are seen and heard in the highest quality, clearly and naturally. This ensures maximum engagement from the panel and optimal content consumption by viewers who feel part of the discussion.
Dorit Shoval, Head of Administration at the Israel Democracy Institute:
“This was a very challenging project for us. We had to think outside the box and approach things differently.”
IVS-TEC was chosen for the task. After analysis and consultation, a solution was developed that achieved 130% of the target.
Yaniv Levi, Co-CEO of IVS-TEC:
“The guidelines for selecting the filming equipment included built-in compression capabilities such as NDI/SRT/RTMP, silent movement, image and audio quality, fast focus, and additional unique parameters tailored to the challenges posed by the Israel Democracy Institute, such as built-in audio inputs.”
The solution involved using six Canon CR-N300 cameras.
Levi: “This model is characterized by achieving the highest quality focus very quickly.”
Additionally, two Canon CR-N500 cameras were used for wide-angle shots and 20x zoom.
Levi: “This camera features a 1-inch sensor that maintains color quality under different conditions, even alongside LED screens.”
Levi added: “Participants or operators control the cameras via Canon’s control panel. For the challenge of maintaining multiple shooting angles alongside quick zoom and focus adjustments, we chose the RC-IP100 model—a decision that proved to be extremely accurate.”
Exceptional Audio Quality
Itzik Dubrovsky, Project Manager at IVS-TEC:
“The central space contains six audio zones, each requiring the playback of relevant audio. This space is used for large Zoom meetings with extensive and flexible use of multiple microphones. The unique table arrangement and the need for every participant to speak and present required us to provide desk-mounted microphones along with participant microphones for the outer circle.”
The solution included a microphone management system, speakers, and BIAMP amplification system composed of four TesiraFORTÉ DAN VT DSP units, each with 12 inputs and 8 analog outputs. A DANTE interface linked the units and routed audio to broadcast computers. The hall’s amplifier system was by CRESTRON, with speakers from JBL and AUDAC.
Advanced Broadcast Routing
Dubrovsky:
“VMIX’s live broadcast and video routing system enables control of all routing between cameras, adding speaker name graphics, broadcasting across platforms and social networks, and recording for the VOD system.”
User-Friendly Control
Dubrovsky:
“The control systems were designed to allow operation in various modes, such as casual user or meeting manager. For these scenarios, we installed a 10″ touch screen from CRESTRON, enabling advanced and highly user-friendly operation.”
Levi:
“The solution for the Israel Democracy Institute required addressing professional implementations for one group while providing simplicity for non-technical participants. IVS-TEC delivered a comprehensive solution allowing for filmed Zoom calls, meeting recordings, control over lighting and air conditioning, and more, with ease. Simultaneously, an adjacent control room was established for advanced use of the same space, facilitating complex broadcasts and high-level directing capabilities.”
Shoval concluded:
“The purpose of this space is to make democracy accessible to all segments of the public. I hope that from this room, it will also extend outward—to the broader public. The ability to sit around one table and share as equals is what this room represents.”
